Signalling Factory
The repositories of the Signalling Factory were created to help scientist to share their material. Scientist can deposit their plasmid, cell lines or antibodies and we take care of the quality control, MTA compliance and distribution to other scientist.
Any request of material will be covered under a MTA between the recipient scientist and the Signalling Factory.
To support operation of the Repository and to maintain the high quality standard of our work we charge a fee. The fee is used to cover consumables and operating cost. (The transfer of material contemplated herein shall not be considered as a "sale of goods" for any purposes.)
Terms and Conditions for the distribution of biological material
The Signalling Factory managed a repository of plasmids and expression vectors which are relevant for signalling science. On request, we transfer materials exclusively to academic and non-profit laboratories for research and education purposes only. We do not transfer any material to commercial entities.
The Signalling Factory does not sell original or unmodified vectors from other companies. The transfer of material contemplated herein shall not be considered as a "sale of goods" for any purposes.

The offered materials are entirely checked via restriction digests to verify the backbone and in most cases additionally verified by sequencing the insert.
Additionally, we distribute single plasmid clones of a Human (V5.1) and Yeast ORFeome plasmid collection and a customized mouse kinase shRNA libary.

Yeast ORF Collection
Moue kinase shRNA Library
The Signalling Factory Unit stores and maintains a cell line library in the Signalhaus and makes it available for members of the University of Freiburg and the University Medical Center Freiburg.
All human cell lines have been authenticated by STR analysis (DNA fingerprinting). All other mammalian cells have been authenticated via sequencing of the species specific COI gene.

Requirement of antibodies or chemical inhibitors in experimental work is often associated with high costs. The Signalling Factory in the Signalhaus has established a joint pool of antibodies in order to expand the research capacity of scientists.

Optobase is an online platform on molecular optogenetics. It comprises an advanced database which aims to cover all existing not ion-flux based optogenetic switches and publications, and a section with convenient web tools. It is meant for both expert optogeneticists, to easily keep track of the field, as well as for all researchers who find optogenetics inviting as a powerful tool to address their biological questions of interest.
