II. GC-EI-MS coupling (Agilent 7890A / 5975C) for metabolic profiling in plants, animals and microorganisms

We routinely profile the relative concentration changes in primary metabolites (sugars, sugar alcohols, amino acids, organic acids and phosphorylated compounds). The mainly polar metabolites are extracted from the tissue and derivatised, after which and the derivates are identified and quantified with an Agilent GC-Quadrupole-MS System, which can operate in electron ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) modes.

Several more targeted methods for analyzing particular (i.e. non-polar) compounds are developed in cooperation with the various users.
